How to log a breastfeeding session without thinking twice

To log a feed, start the timer, pick a side, and stop when the baby unlatches. That is the whole move. Duration, side and the shape of the day calculate themselves.

What is actually worth writing down

The pediatrician does not want a novel. They want to know how often the baby nurses, how long it lasts, and whether one side does most of the work. A breastfeeding log is three facts, not a diary.

Side matters because an uneven pattern can leave one breast full and the other under-stimulated. Duration matters because a four-minute feed at 5 a.m. is not the same as a twenty-five minute feed after a nap.

Pumping belongs on its own line. It is a volume and a time, sometimes one breast only. Mix it with nursing and you lose what the baby actually took at the breast.

The four-tap method

Open Wibou one-handed, start nursing, pick left or right. The timer keeps running on the Lock Screen. Switch sides with the same control. When it is over, save.

Forgot to start the timer? Add the session afterwards with an approximate time. A timestamp that is five minutes off is still useful. A missing feed is not.

Cluster feeding in the evening does not need a row per latch. One session, more than one side, one line. You are looking for a rhythm, not a stopwatch contest.

Read the pattern, not only the last feed

After two days the gaps show up. A long afternoon stretch. One side doing almost all the work. A night where feeds move closer together. That is what the log is for: the pattern, not a fuzzy memory of "he fed well today".

The other parent sees the same row as soon as you save it. No more "did you do the left side?" at 2 a.m. The answer is already in the timeline.

What this log is not

A nursing log is not medical advice. If weight gain stalls, if feeds hurt, if you are unsure about supply, talk to a lactation consultant or the pediatrician. The app gives you the facts to show them.

Questions

Do I need a separate row for every cluster feed?

No. An evening stretch can live in one session with more than one side. A clear line beats six fragments you will never open again.

How do I log pumping without mixing it with nursing?

Use the pumping tracker, not the nursing session. You record a volume and a time. It stays separate from time at the breast.
